What is the Rural Pact?
Launched in 2021, the Rural Pact is an initiative of the European Commission: an open community platform designed to strengthen Europe’s rural areas by 2040. The programme brings together local residents, policy-makers, and professionals to jointly shape the future of the countryside.
The initiative rests on three pillars: amplifying the voice of rural communities in policy-making, fostering networking at the European level, and encouraging voluntary professional commitments.
